Eating For Age Spots

A Natural Approach To Health

Eating For Age Spots

We had a question the other day about age spots.

Age spots are flat brown spots and can appear anywhere on your body as you age.

They’re also called liver spots.

Most age spots appear on your face, neck, and hands.

These brown spots are harmless, but they can be a sign of more serious underlying problems.

They’re the result of a buildup of wastes known as lipofuscin accumulation, a byproduct of free radical damage in skin cells.

These spots are actually signs your cells are full of wastes that slowly destroy your body’s cells, including brain and liver cells.

In other words, they’re a surface sign of free radical intoxication of your body which may affect many internal structures as well, including your heart muscle and your retina.

Factors leading to the formation of age spots include poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, poor liver function, eating oxidized oils over a period of time, and, above all, excessive sun exposure.

Exposure to the sun causes the development of free radicals that may damage your skin.

Most people who have significant numbers of age spots live in sunny climates or have had excessive sun exposure.

The formation of lipofuscin is associated with a deficiency of a number of important nutrients, including vitamin E, selenium, glutathione, chromium, and DMAE.

Consuming alcohol increases lipofuscin formation.

To deal with age spots it’s beneficial to:

*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily as it hydrates body cells, thins mucus, and flushes toxins.

*Burdock, milk thistle, and red clover help clean your bloodstream.

*Ginkgo biloba improves circulation and is a potent antioxidant (don’t take if you have a bleeding disorder, or are scheduled for surgery or a dental procedure).

*Emu oil has shown good results on age spots.

*Eat a diet high in vegetable protein and consisting of 50% raw fruits and vegetables, plus fresh grains, cereals, seeds, and nuts.  Be aware seeds and nuts spoil quickly when subjected to heat and/or exposed to air.  Buy only vacuum-sealed raw nuts and seeds; keep tightly sealed once opened.

*Omit all animal protein from your diet for 1 month.

*Avoid caffeine, fried foods, saturated fats, red meat, processed foods, sugar, and tobacco.

*Follow a fasting program to cleanse your liver and rid your body of toxins.  A properly functioning liver and a clean colon are important.  Use black radish extract or dandelion root and beet juice along with 3 days of fasting a month with distilled water and fresh lemon, fruit, and vegetable juices.

*Limit sun exposure.

*Don’t use cleansing creams, especially hydrogenated, hardened creams.  Cleanse your skin with pure olive oil and a warm wet washcloth, then rinse with lemon juice and water.

*This has worked for some people:  At night, saturate a cotton ball with pure lemon juice and put it over the spots (but don’t apply it near your eyes).  There may be some tingling, but only for a few minutes.  If there’s no sign of irritation, apply morning and night.

*Keep a balanced pH.

*Use Enfuselle and/or ShakleeBaby skin care products.
