Living With Bacterial Vaginosis

I had a question the other day about bacterial vaginosis.

Bacterial vaginosis is a mild infection of your vagina caused by bacteria.

Normally, there are a lot of “good” bacteria and some “bad” bacteria in your vagina.

The good kind helps control the growth of the bad kind.

In women with bacterial vaginosis, this balance is upset.

There aren’t enough good bacteria and too many bad bacteria.

Bacterial vaginosis is usually a mild problem and may go away on its own in a few days.

But it can lead to more serious problems.

Experts aren’t sure what causes the bacteria in your vagina to get out of balance.

But some things make it more likely to happen.

Your risk of getting bacterial vaginosis is higher if you:

>Have more than one sex partner or have a new sex partner.

>Smoke.

>Douche.

You may be able to avoid bacterial vaginosis if you limit your number of sex partners and don’t douche or smoke.

Bacterial vaginosis is more common in women who are sexually active.

But it’s probably not something you catch from another person.

The most common symptom is a smelly vaginal discharge.

It may look grayish white or yellow.

A sign of bacterial vaginosis can be a “fishy” smell, which may be worse after sex.

About half of women who have bacterial vaginosis don’t notice any symptoms.

Bacterial vaginosis usually doesn’t cause other health problems.

But in some cases it can lead to serious problems.

>If you have it when you’re pregnant, it increases the risk of miscarriage, early delivery, and uterine infection after pregnancy.

>If you have it when you have a pelvic procedure, like a cesarean section, abortion, or hysterectomy, you’re more likely to get a pelvic infection.

>If you have it and you’re exposed to a sexually transmitted infection (including HIV), you’re more likely to get the infection.

To deal with bacterial vaginosis it’s beneficial to:

*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily.

*Increase your exercise, relaxation techniques, etc.

*Increase essential fats (flax oil, olive oil, Omega-3 oils).

*Increase fresh, raw fruits and veggies; consider fresh juicing.

*Consider a liver and/or colon cleanse.

*Consider herbs, acupuncture, energy medicine techniques, hydrotherapy, etc.

*Address any emotional issues.

*Have a chiropractic assessment.

*Eliminate toxic exposures, both food and environment.

*Eliminate any and all hydrogenated, trans fats, deep-fried foods, margarine, fast foods, etc.

*Eliminate sugar, sweets, white flour products, processed foods.

*Avoid dairy products.

*Avoid tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, soda pop.

*Maintain a healthy weight.

*Understand your medications and possible side effects.

*If you follow a vegetarian lifestyle or low caloric intake, it’s essential to ensure proper intake of protein, B vitamins and essential fats.

*Consider a full candida cleanse.

*Consider Tea Tree Oil and Oil of Oregano.

*Increase garlic consumption.

*Research natural feminine products.

*Use only natural, non-toxic personal care products.

*Keep area clean and dry.

*Ensure use of plentiful amounts of Optiflora during and after any use of antibiotics to replenish “good” bacteria wiped out by the antibiotic.
