Living With Fibromyalgia

For Cheri

I had a question the other day about fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is widespread pain in your muscles and soft tissues above and below your waist and on both sides of your body.

People with fibromyalgia feel pain, tenderness, or both even when there’s no injury or inflammation.

Fibromyalgia can cause long-lasting pain.

When it’s not controlled, you may not have any energy.

Or you may feel depressed or have trouble sleeping.

No one knows for sure what causes fibromyalgia.

But experts have some ideas, such as:

>Nerve cells may be too sensitive.

>Chemicals in your brain (neurotransmitters) may be out of balance.

>Your deep phase of sleep may be disrupted and affect the amount of hormones your body releases.

The main symptoms of fibromyalgia are:

>Deep or burning pain in your trunk, neck, low back, hips, and shoulders.

>Tender points on your body that hurt when pressed.

People with fibromyalgia may have other problems, such as:

>Anxiety and depression. These can make you feel worse.

>Sleep problems and tiredness.

>Headaches.

>Morning stiffness.

>Trouble concentrating.

>Irritable bowel syndrome.

Symptoms tend to come and go.

You may have times when you hurt more, followed by times when symptoms happen less often, hurt less, or are absent (remissions).

Some people find their symptoms are worse in cold and damp weather, during times of stress, or when they try to do too much.

Fibromyalgia has no cure.

But with treatment, most people can work and do their regular activities.

There are many things you can do to help manage your symptoms.

To deal with fibromyalgia it’s beneficial to:

*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily to hydrate and flush toxins.

*Review my post on keeping clean on the inside.

*Breathe easier; purify indoor air.

*Increase essential fats (flax oil, olive oil, Omega-3 oils).

*Consume a 50% raw food diet:  lots of fresh, raw fruits and veggies (organic when possible).  Include fresh juicing.

*Consider liver and colon cleanses.

*Increase exercise, deep breathing, relaxation, stress release.

*Increase fresh air, sunshine, connect to nature, adequate rest.

*Deal with any underlying emotional issues.

*Consider skin brushing, Epsom salt baths, hydrotherapy.

*Ensure regular (2 per day) bowel movements.

*Decrease toxic exposures of all kinds.

*Investigate and eliminate “hidden” allergies/sensitivities.

*Decrease or eliminate any and all hydrogenated, trans fats, and deep-fried foods.

*Decrease or eliminate sugar-laden foods, white flour products, simple carbs.

*Decrease or eliminate processed, instant, chemical-laden, “lifeless” foods.

*Decrease or eliminate smoking, alcohol, coffee, soda pop, processed juices.

*Become educated about all possible side effects and detrimental influences of any medications or treatment procedures you are taking or considering.

*Research and address underlying Candida issues.

*Avoid MSG and artificial sweeteners as they are neurotoxins.

*Investigate possible root canal connection; explore dental amalgam toxicity (consult a holistic dentist).

*Check thyroid function, blood sugar metabolism.
