A Natural Approach To Health
Living With Orthostatic Hypotension
I had a question the other day about orthostatic hypotension.
Orthostatic hypotension is a sudden decrease in blood pressure when a person stands upright.
It may be caused by a decreased amount of blood in your body resulting from excessive use of diuretics, vasodilators, or other types of drugs.
Dehydration and prolonged bed rest can also cause orthostatic hypotension.
Symptoms appear when you stand (the more suddenly you stand, the more serious the problem) and generally include dizziness, lightheadedness, blurred vision, and syncope or temporary loss of consciousness.
Most people have experienced a dizzy feeling when they stand abruptly from a lying-down position; this is normal and is not to be confused with this condition.
Other diseases are sometimes associated with the disorder, including Addison’s disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and certain neurological disorders.
To deal with orthostatic hypotension it’s beneficial to:
*Drink 10 cups of purified water daily to hydrate and flush toxins.
*Also drink organic pure pomegranate juice daily.
*Consume 1/4 cup of tomato sauce or 3 medium-sized tomatoes per day.
*Make sure your diet is well balanced and contains plenty of fiber.
*Eat fish several times a week, or take a high-dose, ultra-refined fish oil supplement.
*Eat plenty of organic raw foods. For protein, eat broiled fish and skinless turkey and chicken, which are low in fat.
*Include garlic and onions in your diet.
*Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
*Add raw nuts (except peanuts), olive oil, pink salmon, trout, tuna, Atlantic herring, and mackerel to your diet.
*Don’t consume stimulants, like coffee and black tea, containing caffeine. Also avoid tobacco, alcohol, chocolate, sugar, butter, red meat, fats, fried foods, processed and refined foods, soft drinks, spicy foods, and white flour products, like white bread.
*Eliminate all known sources of sodium from your diet. Almost everything contains some sodium. Keeping consumption below 5 grams per day is a good target.
*If you’re overweight, lose the extra pounds.
