A Natural Approach To Health
Living With Poor Circulation
I had a question the other day about poor circulation.
Problems start once blood flow become restricted to certain parts of your body.
Often you notice it in your extremities, like your toes or fingers.
However, it can affect everywhere.
One common cause is a build up of plaque on the insides of your blood vessels and capillaries.
This is usually caused by fat build-up on your inner cell walls.
In mild situations this can just cause a little discomfort.
However, if it worsens it can become rather serious.
Some of the more serious conditions can be high blood pressure, heart problems, hypertension, organ damage, strokes, varicose veins, and kidney issues.
As well as these “diseases” or potentially life threatening problems, there are also the more mundane problems caused by poor circulation.
One that’s not often mentioned is the simple day-to-day living of eating food and getting your body to properly process its basic nutrition requirements.
The blood circulation system is the prime method of getting needed nutrients to the cells of your body.
If blood flow in one area is poor, then the cells will find it very difficult to get all of the food nutrients and energy they need to absorb to enable your body to work in a healthy manner.
Though not as common as it used to be, smoking is a cause for this.
Years and years of no exercise can lead to bad circulation.
However, you can improve things fairly quickly if you DO something about it.
Eating too much junk food, which usually leads to being overweight, is also a prime reason.
Start making some lifestyle changes.
Even little ones at first can lead to quick improvements.
To deal with poor circulation at home it’s beneficial to:
*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily to hydrate and flush toxins.
*Increase exercise and movement as much as possible.
*Increase stress and relaxation techniques: yoga, meditation, prayer, deep breathing, etc. Consider energy medicine.
*Address emotional connections.
*Increase fresh air, sunshine, connect with nature.
*Increase essential fats (flax oil, olive oil, Omega-3 oils).
*Increase fresh, raw fruits and veggies (organic when possible).
*Consider fresh juicing; consume fresh garlic and onions.
*Increase fiber intake; ensure good bowel function; avoid constipation; consider liver and/or colon cleanse.
*Consider an arterial cleansing program.
*Investigate use of herbs (hawthorn, valerian).
*Monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, triglyceride and homocysteine levels.
*Decrease toxic exposures of all kinds (food and environmental).
*Decrease “hidden allergies”.
*Decrease any and all hydrogenated, trans fats, deep-fried foods, margarine, fast foods, etc.
*Decrease sugar, sweets, white flour products, processed foods.
*Understand and control diabetes.
*Avoid tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, soda pop.
*Decrease stress.
*Decrease excess weight, particularly around your mid-section.
*Understand your medications and possible side effects.
*Understand your family history and address any concerns. Practice preventive measures.
*Investigate possible connection to dental procedures; consult a holistic dentist.
*Eliminate MSG and all artificial sweeteners as they are neurotoxins.
*Decrease processed meats, deli meats (nitrates).
*Avoid constipation.
*Elevate your legs.
