A Natural Approach To Health

Living With Diarrhea

I had a question the other day about diarrhea.

Diarrhea describes bowel movements that are loose and watery.

It’s very common and usually not serious.

May people will have diarrhea once or twice each year.

It usually lasts 2-3 days and can be easily treated at home.

There are basically 3 different types of diarrhea:

>Osmotic diarrhea – means that something in your bowel is drawing water from your body into your bowel.  A common example of this is “dietetic candy” or “chewing gum” diarrhea, where a sugar substitute, like sorbitol, isn’t absorbed by your body but instead draws water from your body into your bowel, resulting in diarrhea.

>Secretory diarrhea – happens when your body is releasing water into your bowel when it’s not supposed to.  Many infections, drugs, and other conditions cause secretory diarrhea.

>Exudative diarrhea – refers to the presence of blood and pus in your stool.  This happens with inflammatory bowel diseases, like Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, and several infections.

The most common cause of diarrhea is a virus that infects your gut.

The infections usually lasts for 2 days and is what we call “the flu”.

Diarrhea can also be caused by a bacterial infection (food poisoning), infections by other organisms, eating foods that upset your digestive system, allergies to certain foods, medication, radiation therapy, hyperthyroidism, some cancers, laxative abuse, alcohol abuse, diabetes, and competitive running.

To deal with and prevent diarrhea it’s important to:

*Review my blog post on poop.

*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily to hydrate and flush.

*Increase your essential fats (flax oil, olive oil, Omega-3 oils).

*Eat lots of fresh, raw fruits and veggies.

*Consider fresh juicing.

*Eat a fiber-rich diet.

*Consider a liver, gallbladder and/or colon cleanse.

*Consider enemas.

*Get regular exercise.

*Practice good stress and relaxation techniques.

*Take a natural calcium/magnesium supplement because this supports bowel function.

*Discover “hidden” allergies and sensitivities as these often trigger and/or aggravate symptoms (commonly wheat, dairy, sugar, gluten).

*Eliminate toxic exposures of all kinds.

*Eliminate caffeine or other stimulants.

If you’re dealing with diarrhea, try these (100% money-back guarantee):

It’s essential to use:  Vita-Lea, Protein, Optiflora, Herb-Lax, Fiber, Calcium/Magnesium, Alfalfa, EZ-Gest.

It’s important to use:  B-Complex, Lecithin, OmegaGuard, DTX, VitalMag, Vitamin D.

It’s beneficial to use:  Performance, Vitamin C, Garlic, Stomach Soothing Complex, Vivix.
