Living With a Root Canal

I had a question the other day about a root canal.

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that’s badly decayed or infected.

During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of your tooth is cleaned and sealed.

The pulp is the soft area within the center of your tooth.

Your tooth’s nerve lies within root canals, which lie within the roots or “legs” of the tooth.

Your tooth’s nerve is not vitally important to your tooth’s health and function.

Its only function is to provide the sensation of hot or cold.

The presence or absence of a nerve won’t affect the day-to-day functioning of your tooth.

The first step in a root canal procedure is to take an x-ray to see the shape of your root canals and determine if there are any signs of infection in your surrounding bone.

Local anesthesia is then used to numb the area near your tooth.

Then a sheet of rubber is placed around your tooth to keep it dry and free of saliva.

An access hole is then drilled into your tooth.

The pulp along with bacteria, the decayed nerve tissue and related debris is removed from your tooth.

The cleaning out process is accomplished using root canal files.

A series of increasing diameter files are placed into the access hole and worked down the full length of your tooth to scrape and scrub the sides of your root canals.

Water is used to periodically flush away the debris.

Once your tooth is thoroughly cleaned, it needs to be sealed.

To fill the interior of your tooth, a sealer paste and rubber compound is placed into your tooth’s root canal.

To fill the exterior access hole created at the beginning of treatment, a filling is placed.

The entire procedure shouldn’t be any more painful than having a filling placed.

For support during preparation for and recovery from a root canal it’s beneficial to:

*Brush your teeth at least twice a day.

*Floss daily.

*Explore the use of clove oil or fresh clove to alleviate pain and discomfort.

*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily.

*Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies daily.

*Increase your raw food consumption.

*Choose organic whenever possible.

*Increase essential fats (Omega-3, Flax oil, fish oil).

*Explore the use of Arnica, a homeopathic remedy, for dental procedures.

*Decrease or eliminate toxic dental care products, like whiteners, mouthwash, etc.

*Decrease or eliminate sugars, hard or sticky candy, etc.

*Don’t smoke.

*Decrease or eliminate acid-forming foods and drinks (coffee, soda pop, dairy, red meat, sugar, processed foods, white flour products).

*Decrease exposure to toxic products (cleaners, laundry, personal care, etc.)

If you’re dealing with a root canal, try these (100% money-back guarantee):

It’s essential to use:  Vita-Lea, Protein, Pain Relief Complex, Alfalfa, Optiflora, Vitamin C, B-Complex.

Hi, nice post. I would like to add that Root canal treatment is a dental procedure that replaces a tooth’s damaged or infected pulp with a filling. The pulp consists of specialised dental cells, blood vessels, tissue fibres and some nerve fibres located in the hollow space in the central part of the tooth.
