A Natural Approach To Health
Living With a Tumor
I had a question the other day about a tumor.
A tumor, or neoplasm, is an abnormal new growth of tissue.
It may be just in one area or in many areas in your body.
Tumors can appear anywhere in or on your body, and can be cancerous (malignant) or noncancerous (benign).
Polyps and papillomas are examples of benign tumors.
Squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas are examples of malignant tumors.
Unlike benign tumors, malignant tumors are usually serious and are likely to grow, take over other organs, and spread.
They can be a life-threatening problem if they’re not found and treated at an early stage.
The prognosis for a malignant tumor depends on the tumor’s location.
If it’s difficult to detect and there aren’t many symptoms, treatment may not begin soon enough to prevent the tumor from spreading.
Environmental factors and diet seem to play an important role in the development of tumors.
Tumors have been known to decrease in size and even disappear in response to dietary changes and supplementation with high-quality vitamins and minerals.
Most cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery work better when you’re well nourished.
So supplementation is important regardless of how you want to be treated.
The suggestions here are designed to enhance immune function and suppress the growth of tumors, both benign and malignant.
To deal with a tumor, it’s beneficial to:
*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily to keep hydrated and flush toxins, whether thirsty or not. Don’t drink tap water. Add Performance for electrolytes.
*Cat’s claw boosts your immune system and has anti-tumor properties (don’t use during pregnancy).
*For an external tumor, try a poultice made from comfrey, pau d’arco, ragwort, and/or wood sage.
*For breast lumps, try using poultices made of poke root, which is effective in combating glandular swelling (poke root is for external use only).
*Other beneficial herbs include barberry, burdock root, dandelion, milk thistle, pau d’arco, and red clover (don’t use barberry during pregnancy).
*Eat a diet of 50% raw fruits and vegetables. Buy organic whenever possible. Nuts, seeds, whole grains, and low-fat yogurt and yogurt products also should be included in your diet. Don’t eat animal protein (eat soy protein instead), dairy products (except for yogurt), processed and packaged foods, salt (if you do use salt, use sea salt), sugar, white flour, or white flour products.
*Include grains, nuts, seeds, and unpolished brown rice in your diet. Millet cereal is a good source of protein. Eat wheat, oat, and bran.
*Eat plenty of cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and spinach. Eat plenty of asparagus. Also eat yellow and deep-orange vegetables like carrots, pumpkin, squash, and yams.
*Apples, berries (including blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries), Brazil nuts, cantaloupe, cherries, grapes, legumes (including chickpeas, lentils, and red beans), oranges, and plums all help fight cancer.
*Cook all sprouts slightly (except for alfalfa sprouts, which should be washed thoroughly and eaten raw).
*Eat onions and use garlic liberally, as they enhance your immune system and fight cancer. Crushing garlic and then letting it rest for 10 minutes before use raises the levels of its cancer-fighting component. If you don’t like the taste of garlic, take it in supplement form.
*Take ginger. Ginger suppresses nausea so it’s excellent to use for the nausea and upset stomach sometimes occurring with chemotherapy treatment. Ginger works best when taken with protein.
*Try to eat 7 servings of whole-grain foods a day. Include at least 5 different types of grain foods in your diet each week.
*Eat 10 raw almonds daily.
*Eat as many tomatoes and tomato-based products as you can.
*Eat a lot of tart cherries, both fresh and in pies, jams, and sugar-free juice.
*Drink beet juice (from roots and greens), carrot juice, fresh cabbage juice, and asparagus juice often. Grape, black cherry, and all dark-colored juices are good, as are black currants. Also beneficial is apple juice, if it’s fresh. Fruit juices are best taken in the morning, vegetable juices in the afternoon.
*Don’t eat any of the following: peanuts, junk foods, processed refined foods, saturated fats, salt, sugar, or white flour. If necessary, a small amount of blackstrap molasses or pure maple syrup can be used as a natural sweetener in place of sugar. Use whole wheat or rye instead of white flour. Don’t consume anything containing alcohol or caffeine.
*Limit your intake of luncheon meats, hot dogs, or smoked or cured meats. Broiled fish or poultry are better choices.
*Use only glass or stainless steel cookware and wooden cooking utensils.
*Get regular exercise.
*Check the radon level in your home.
*Because of potential low-level radiation leakage, avoid microwave ovens. Don’t sit close to the TV – sit at least 8′ away.
*Avoid chemicals like hair sprays, cleaning compounds, waxes, fresh paints, and garden pesticides. Many chemicals promote the formation of free radicals in your body, which may lead to cancer. People with cancer can further weaken their immune systems by coming into contact with chemicals.
*Use a shower head that removes the chlorine from your water.
*As much as possible, avoid stress. Learn relaxation and stress management techniques to help you deal with those stresses you cannot avoid.
