Living With Blocked Sweat Glands

I had a question the other day about blocked sweat glands.

The medical term for blocked sweat glands is hidradenitis suppurativa.

It happens usually in your armpits, and rarely, on your buttocks or groin or under your breasts.

Heat, sweat, or incomplete gland development may block sweat glands, forcing sweat and bacteria into the surrounding tissues, which then becomes infected.

This condition is seen most often in black females, people who are overweight, and people who spend time in a hot and moist environment.

Hidradenitis suppurativa usually occurs as multiple lumps that:

>Are firm, tender, and dome-shaped.

>Vary in size from 1 cm to 3 cm (sometimes larger).

>May open and drain pus.

Treatment focuses on reducing inflammation and fighting infection.

But it’s hard to treat, and if the infection is severe or recurs, surgery may be needed to remove the lumps.

To deal with blocked sweat glands it’s beneficial to:

*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily as it hydrates your body, thins mucus, and flushes toxins.

*Black radish extract, mullein, and red clover, taken in tea form, help restore glandular balance.

*Burdock root and red clover help cleanse your lymphatic glands and rid your body of toxins.

*Oat straw is a good source of silicon, which helps with healing, and is also high in calcium.  It can be taken in tea or capsule form.

*Parsley helps maintain glandular balance.

*Garlic and alfalfa help fight infection.

*Aloe vera juice is helpful for inflammation.

*Bilberry contains flavonoids that reduce inflammation.

*Boswellia and turmeric help reduce inflammation

*Eat a diet composed of 75% raw foods, and drink plenty of herbal teas and juices.

*Eat foods high in flavonoids, which are powerful antioxidants and useful for inflammation reduction.  Spinach and blueberries are excellent sources of flavonoids.  Strawberries contain smaller amounts.  Quercetin, found in onions, is good for inflammation as well.

*Eat half of a fresh pineapple or fresh papaya daily.  Pineapple contains bromelain and papaya contains papain, both enzymes that reduce swelling and inflammation.

*Eat cold-water fish like herring, mackerel, salmon, and sardines at least twice a week, as they are rich sources of essential fatty acids.  Take fish oil capsules as well.

*Limit saturated fats and polyunsaturated fats that are rich in omega-6s like corn oil, cottonseed oil, and sunflower oil.

*Avoid packaged goods, because many contain omega-6-rich fats.

*Limit your salt intake.

*Avoid cola, sugar, white flour products, and junk foods.

*Use Enfuselle and/or ShakleeBaby skin care products.

*Tea Tree Oil is an antibacterial topical treatment.

*Epsom salts baths may be beneficial/soothing.

*Consider liver and/or colon cleanses, fasting, and/or juicing.

*Review my post on candida.

*Eliminate toxic personal care, laundry and cleaning products.

*Eliminate personal care products that upset skin’s natural pH.

*Quit smoking.

*Decrease excessive sun exposure.

*Decrease exposure to chlorinated shower/bath water, pools and hot tubs.

*Improve your digestion and elimination processes.

*Discover allergies/sensitivities (food and/or environmental) that may trigger or aggravate condition.

*Eliminate free radical damage.
