Eating For An Abscess

A Natural Approach To Health

Eating For An Abscess

We had a question the other day about an abscess.

An abscess is formed when pus accumulates in a tissue, organ, or confined space in your body due to infection.

An abscess can form in your brain, lungs, teeth, gums, underarms, abdominal wall, gastrointestinal tract, ears, tonsils, sinuses, bones, breasts, kidneys, prostate gland, rectum, scrotum, or almost any other body part.

You may also experience fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, and alternating bouts of fever and chills.

The material inside an abscess is living and dead white blood cells, dead tissue, bacteria, and/or toxins – all of which need to get out of your body.

An abscess appearing in a matter of a few hours or overnight is said to be acute.

If an abscess has been present for days or weeks, it’s said to be chronic.

An abscess, if treated, should begin to heal in a few days.

An abscess that doesn’t heal within this time can mean a problem within your immune system.

Basically, an abscess is a sign your body is trying to rid itself of impurities.

Eating junk food not only clutters your system with foods lacking nutrients, but also prevents cellular waste from being eliminated efficiently causing problems like constipation and sluggish liver, spleen, and kidney function.

Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables helps clean wastes and toxins from your body.

To deal with an abscess, it’s beneficial to:

*Drink 6-8 cups of purified water daily, whether thirsty or not.

*Drinking distilled water with fresh lemon juice, plus 3 cups of suma tea every day is helpful.

*The following herbs are beneficial for healing abscesses and cleansing your blood:  burdock root, cayenne, dandelion root, red clover, and yellow dock root.

*Goldenseal can be made into a poultice and applied directly to the abscess.  Or, apply alcohol-free goldenseal extract to sterile gauze and place the gauze over the abscess.

*A poultice combining lobelia and slippery elm bark is soothing and fights infection.

*Milk thistle, taken in capsule form, is good for your liver and helps cleanse your bloodstream.

*Tea tree oil, applied externally, is a potent natural antiseptic that kills infectious organisms without harming healthy cells.  Mix 1 part tea tree oil with 4 parts water and apply the mixture with a cotton ball 3 times a day.  This will destroy the bacteria, quicken healing, and prevent the infection from spreading.

*Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies daily (organic whenever possible).

*Eat fresh pineapple daily.  Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme that fights inflammation and helps healing.

*Include garlic and onions in your diet.  They’re high in sulfur and can help to both prevent and heal abscesses.

*Add kelp to your diet for beneficial minerals.

*Perform a liquid fast using fresh juices for 24-48 hours.

*Apply honey to an external abscess.  Honey destroys bacteria and viruses by drawing the moisture out of them.

*To cleanse the affected area, apply chlorophyll liquid mixed with water several times a day.

*If you must take antibiotics, supplement your diet with B vitamins and products containing “friendly” bacteria, like acidophilus and yogurt.

*If pain, redness, swelling, bleeding, or discharge increases or continues for more than a week, call your doctor.
