Landmark Study Results

A+     Overall findings:

In virtually every category the Shaklee multiple supplement users were clear winners.  Not only did they report a greater overall sense of health and well-being, their test results supported it.  Disease presence in general, as well as elevated blood pressure and diabetes was lower.  Vitamin and mineral levels were higher.  All indications proved better health.

Not only did Shaklee users report better health – they had the blood work to PROVE IT!  Remember, the average age of this group was 6-9 years older.

Negative reactions:

*NO evidence of negative or adverse effects were found

Vitamins and minerals

*higher blood levels of essential vitamins, including healthy levels of vitamin D

*healthier levels of various minerals

*healthier levels of iron

Biomarkers of disease:

*normal markers for vascular disease

*normal C-reactive protein (inflammation marker)

*normal levels of HDL (good) cholesterol

*normal blood pressure levels

NOTE:  Unhealthy levels of any of these biomarkers are associated with an increased risk of vascular and other major disease processes.

The study results were impressive and support the benefits of long-term use of dietary supplements.

Historic Landmark Expeditions and Record-Breaking Achievements

For years, Shaklee has studied the diets of elite athletes.  This research has led to dietary recommendations and high performance nutritional products for elite athletes and explorers.  Shaklee has been a significant contributor to many landmark expeditions and record-breaking achievements throughout the world.  Shaklee products were involved in the following adventures.

Voyageur     Voyager non-stop around the world flight (1986):

Shaklee was the official nutrition consultant to Jeana Yeager and Dick Rutan, the daring pilots who powered the first non-stop (9-day) airplane flight to circumnavigate the globe without refueling.

The Daedalus Project (1988):

Shaklee’s Performance was developed as the sole “fuel” for the Greek Olympic cyclist, Kanellos Kanellopoulos, who provided the pedal power for the Daedalus aircraft.  The 72-mile human powered flight from Crete to the Greek mainland set 3 world records for human powered flight, a feat equivalent to 2 back-to-back marathons.  Performance (Shaklee’s electrolyte drink) provided easy-to-absorb muscle fuel and quickly replaced the pilot’s lost fluids.

Mount Everest Expeditions:

Shaklee has helped a number of record-breaking Everest expeditions reach the top of the world, including the first American to climb the mountain without supplemental oxygen.  In support of the American Himalayan Foundation, Shaklee has planted over a million trees in the Himalayas to help protect the environment and offset global climate change.

Polar Expeditions:

North Pole Expeditions:

Shaklee has been part of Will Steger’s history-making expeditions for over two decades.  In 1986, after a 56-day trip, the Steger International Polar Expedition became the first to reach the North Pole by dogsled without resupply (they carried everything they needed with them, over 3 tons of supplies).  In 1997, Steger traveled solo without the use of sled dogs or resupply.

TransAntarctica Expedition:

Shaklee was the official sponsor of high energy foods for the 1989-90 TransAntarctica Expedition in which Will Steger led a team of men on a 3,741 mile dogsled expedition across Antarctica.  This was the first unmechanized crossing of Antarctica.

International Arctic Project:

In 1995, the first official dietary study of Arctic explorers was supported by Shaklee nutrition.  In this dogsled expedition, Steger’s team was the first to cross the Arctic from Russia to Canada via the North Pole in a single season.  This was a 3 month, 1,000 mile trip.  This expedition had team members pulling their own weight for much of the trip.

Jacques Cousteau – Cousteau Society:

This pioneer in ocean exploration founded The Cousteau Society.  Cousteau chose Shaklee’s safe, biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning products for his research vessels, Calypso and Alcyone, to ensure that no harm would be done to the environment.  Cousteau led 55 ocean expeditions from Alaska to Antarctica, including a search for Atlantis in the Aegean Sea.
